The orchestra
The Sorbian National Ensemble is an orchestra with a versatile artistic claim. As a constant accompanist for the majority of the ensemble’s productions, its artistic expertise ranges from contemporary music theatre and folkloric-inspired stage works to choral symphonies and chamber music. It is also a stylistically confident creator of its own concert series. Its repertoire not only includes the world’s musical literature but also a large number of premieres and first performances of works by Sorbian and Slavic composers.
CD recordings as well as radio and television productions document the orchestra’s artistic range. The positive response of the Lusatian audience, as well as concert-goers throughout the German-speaking and international world, repeatedly confirms the high quality and special profile of the SNE orchestra. Guest appearances have taken the orchestra to venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Prinzregententheater in Munich, the Hamburg State Opera and the Auditorium de Palma.
